One of the greatest challenges for philanthropists is determining how to target their investments. Smart philanthropy is not about “giving away” money; it is about providing capital to help an organization or entity accomplish a desired outcome.
The LGBT Community Fund used research commissioned by a Steering Committee member that assessed resources benefiting the greater Jacksonville LGBT Community to inform its grantmaking. The research suggested that the LGBT Community Fund should focus on four areas: 1) LGBT Youth and LGBT Families with children; 2) Services for Elders; 3) Employment and Workplace Supports; and 4) Communities of Faith.
